Drug Take Back Day Scheduled for This Weekend

Do you have unused medication in your family’s medicine cabinet? If you want to dispose of it safely, now is your chance. The Untied States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has announced that its annual drug take-back event will take place this Saturday, September 26th.

In the last nine take-back events, the DEA has collected almost five million pounds of prescription medications. If these events did not take place, that large amount of medication would have either been disposed of improperly, or worse, fueled or began someone’s addiction.

Many Americans are not aware of how to properly dispose of medication. It often gets flushed down the toilet or left to sit and expire in medicine cabinets. And because a high number of addicts get their first painkiller from the medicine cabinet, proper disposal is crucial.

Clean out your cabinets and start disposing! You can find a collection site near year by visit www.dea.gov.
