NASCAR Driver Fails Drug Test

News came recently that a Nascar driver has failed a random drug test and so will not be able to race in the upcoming Coke Zero 400 race at Daytona. He will be replaced by another driver in the forthcoming race. This is not the first time that this particular driver has had problems with substance abuse. In 2009, he was arrested for drunk driving in Mooresville, North Carolina, with a blood-alcohol level of .08. He was suspended by NASCAR for the rest of the 2009 season.

Though he is a promising driver, his problems with substances threaten to continue to derail his career. In fact, many people who use drugs and alcohol experience trouble with their professional lives. In 2000 alone, substance abuse cost the United States $110 billion in lost productivity. Too, many employers (like NASCAR) retain the right to randomly drug-test their employees or employment applicants. If his case can teach us anything, it’s that drugs and alcohol are not to be trifled with, and that those who have consistent problems with them should seek help.

Drugs can be hazardous to your career and well-being. Thankfully there is help available. Medications and cognitive-behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug addictions. It can be difficult or impossible for an addict to treat themselves on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to find the right treatment center. At Seabrook, we tailor our treatment plans to each individual patient’s needs, so you can rest assured that you’ll be getting the right remedy for yourself or for a loved one. Seabrook has rehabilitation centers in New Jersey (NJ), Pennsylvania (PA), and an outpatient center in New York (NY). Contact Seabrook today for any questions about drugs, addiction, and treatment.
