Alcohol Disrupts Your Sleep, New Study Finds
Do you take nightcaps from time to time? Do you drink alcohol frequently, or even every day? A new study shows that even moderate alcohol usage can have severe repercussions for a person’s sleep at night.
The new study tested college students the night before a major exam. One group went to sleep without drinking any alcohol at all. Another group was given a small amount of alcohol right before bed. Even the group with the small amount of alcohol consumption reported significantly less sleep. A third group took a large amount of alcohol, and though they didn’t sleep less, they had less-restful sleep and reported feeling tired the next day.
With chronic fatigue being one of the most prevalent problems affecting students and workers in the United States, alcohol should consumed only in moderation, and with especial care around bedtime. That nightcap might be costing you more than money. And in the case that you have a problem with alcohol dependence, imagine how much more rested you could be a much better night’s sleep. If you’re drinking every day, odds are you’re sleeping badly every night.
Alcoholism is very bad for your health, and a new study shows that it even impacts your sleep cycle. Thankfully, there is good help available.
