Turning Struggles into Inspiration

Students across Maine have submitted films to BDN’s Film Festival about how substance abuse has affected their lives. The films show what teens are being pressured to do on a daily basis, and that is to try drugs, against their will in most situations. The amount of pressure being put on teenagers is a real concern on how they are becoming addicted to drugs. There is an extreme amount of accessibility to drugs, unlike we have ever seen before. These kids hope to share their stories and shed some light and show real life situations many are faced and battling on a daily basis.

It’s important for people to see what is happening to our generation, and what better than to have our generation speak up and bring this unwarranted topic to light. For many they hope to inspire others to talk to people about their issues, and connect with their peers. The first step to hurdling your substance dependency is admitting to having on in the first place, and that’s just what these kids are doing. If you or a loved one is battling this disease, don’t think you are alone. Millions of people are trying to rid themselves of the poisons their body so eagerly craves, but getting the right help is ample.
