NJ Security Guard Caught Smuggling Drugs into Prison

Two people were recently convicted of smuggling drugs into East Jersey State Prison in Woodbridge, including a New Jersey Department of Corrections officer who worked at the prison. Apparently pulling off an operation that involved the Bloods gang and the Lucchese crime family, the two men brought cell phones, heroin, cocaine, and marijuana to inmates inside the prison.

The two men are awaiting sentencing for their roles in the smuggling, and are expecting to face at least five years of prison. Though they were eventually caught in their crimes, their example only shows how widespread and insidious drug problems are in New Jersey.
