In Adams County, Illinois it’s become known as the king when it comes to manufacturing methamphetamine. The state seized 78 labs just in 2012, and for this year it’s expected they will once again top with 70 meth labs. The meth problem has always been around for Illinois; just in 2005 there was a record of 973 meth labs seized. To decrease the numbers they passed an Act which made criminal charges much harsher, and also they used the community as a source of referral on where to go and who to look for. The combination of stricter laws and the community being on the sides of the Officials it has helped in decreasing the number, but there are still an alarmingly high number of meth labs in the state.
