Being A Team Player

Blog post by: Alumni Relations Specialist

The Patriots and Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl this year! Setting aside the debate of the deflated footballs, how do you think they got there?  Did quarterback Russell Wilson make it happen all on his own?  Was Tom Brady capable of winning without any help from the other players? The answer to that is simple. We all know one man cannot make it to the super bowl alone. I’m sure you know where I’m going with this too. Just as it is impossible to win the Super Bowl with one player, it is equally impossible to be a winner in sobriety without the help of others. That’s why the 12 steps say “We admitted, and We came to believe.” Without the support of your teammates in the fellowship, a coach/sponsor to give you direction, and a power greater than ourselves that provides the strength and endurance to run the game, we will be tackled, defeated, and lose against the disease of addiction. The victory dance is all yours, when you’re part of a team!
