New Street Drug “i25” Is Cause for Alarm

Parents beware—there’s a new drug on the streets, and it’s causing problems. It’s called “i25,” and it’s already caused two overdoses among teens in New Jersey. The drug is so new and so unexpected that not even hospitals know how to test for it yet—and they haven’t figured out a way to treat an overdose. The FDA is equally stumped by the new drug, which seems to be gaining popularity as its usage spreads.

“i25” seems to be some sort of liquid drug. Droplets of it are most likely placed under the tongue, or taken through the nose. So far, reports have indicated that it’s a drug that appeals mostly to youths, with younger people being the main users (and victims) of it. Though meth, heroin, cocaine, PCP, marijuana, prescription pills, and other illicit drugs are also dangerous, at least with those drugs hospitals know what they’re dealing with. Even though a new drug might seem exciting or trendy, the fact is that any drug is dangerous without direction from a doctor—especially a drug that presents so many unknowns.

If you have a problem with drug addiction or dependence, you should seek help before you’re the next overdose. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center. At Seabrook, we customize our treatment plans to individual patient’s needs, so you know the help you’re getting is right for you or a loved one.
