Pilot Arrested After Failing Breathalyzer

A pilot for a flight that was going to carry 53 passengers from Minneapolis to New York LaGaurdia was delayed after its pilot was arrested. Before boarding began for the flight at 6:10am, police and Transportation Security Agency officers smelled alcohol on the pilot’s breath as he walked by. The airport police had him blow into a breathalyzer, which registered a level of alcohol in the blood that was higher than the legal limit. The pilot was then arrested.

The Federal Aviation Administration specifically bars pilots from flying within 8 hours of drinking alcohol, or with a blood-alcohol level of .04 percent or more.
