Mexican Police Find Homemade “Drug Cannon”

Mexican law-enforcement officials discovered an ingenious strategy used by drug smugglers in the city of Mexicali, sources say. The drug dealers had rigged a homemade cannon that could fire packets of marijuana across the United States border into California. The cannon could shoot packets that weighed as much as 30 pounds, the police reported. It was made from plastic pipe, a metal tank, and the engine of an old car which generated compressed air to fire the cannon.

This novel strategy demonstrates the lengths that drug smugglers will go to to supply the demand from American consumers. Though it may seem like a harmless curiosity, the fact is that drug dealers are predators who prey on people who have a disease: drug addiction. This is as true for marijuana as it is for heroin, meth, PCP, cocaine, bath salts, and prescription pills. There is good news, however. A good program of treatment can truly turn a life around and rescue someone from drug addiction.

If you have a problem with alcohol or drug abuse or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence.
