Drunk Driving Affects Everyone
Too often we hear of an accident that was caused by a drunk driver behind the wheel and in the same breath you also hear how the driver who was intoxicated lived through the car accident that they have caused, but sadly the other party was not so lucky. A woman from Rochester, NY says she is too busy raising two young children, while working 2 jobs to care what happens to the man who took her husband’s life. She knows no amount of time nor justice can be served to fill the gap that was so quickly impounded in her life.
The man who was driving intoxicated has been sentenced to 3 to 9 years for vehicle manslaughter and DWI. He has had 3 prior DWI convictions. It’s said with a heavy heart that this is not even close to justice, or making up for a wife and two daughters to live without their father. It’s becoming too often that “accidents” like these are happening, and it’s proving that jail time, tickets and losing your license are not efficient ways to fix this problem. The problem lies within these people seeking treatment for their dependencies. If you have ever taken the risk of driving while intoxicated or allowing someone you know to do the same, take the keys, or don’t drive. If you feel that you don’t know the difference, maybe it’s time you reach out for help. Help in making yourself a healthier person, and sober, so that no more innocent lives, including yours becomes lost.
