Drug Overdose Claims Carter Sister’s Life
Drug Overdose Claims Carter Sister’s Life
The sister of widely known Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Leslie Carter, died in early February 2012 due to a drug overdose. Officials who responded to a 911 call from her family’s western New York home found three drugs near her body: Olanzapine (used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder), Cyclobenzaprine (a muscle relaxant) and Alprazolam (used to treat anxiety or panic disorders). The cause of death won’t be official until the autopsy report in a few weeks, but it’s presumed given the evidence that she died from a dangerous overdose and mix of drugs.
This story is a sad reminder of the dangers of drugs—whether they’re illegal or prescribed. It appears that Leslie did have some issues with mental illness and depression, but even though she might have been prescribed some medications to deal with these issues the mixing of them at once proved to be deadly. Leslie also apparently had an addiction to prescription pills, so for those who deal with the same kind of addiction or illnesses that she dealt with, this story can prove to be a harsh reminder to either get help for your addiction or be more careful about when and how to safely use drugs.
