Former New Jersey Teacher Guilty in Drug Ring
A man who used to be a high school teacher for the state of New Jersey has pled guilty to involvement in a drug ring that sold illegally-obtained prescription drugs, news reports say. He pled guilty to two counts of official misconduct a few counts of conspiracy to possess and distribute drugs. He was not currently an active teacher when selling the drugs. He has been cooperating with police and prosecutors, which has resulted in his sentence being reduced to a possible 5-year prison term with possibility of parole after one year.
Though there was no indication that this man was selling drugs to high schoolers or other youth, the fact remains that the drug dealing life lured him away from his teaching position. His tale is another tragic example of how drugs—illegal or prescription—can completely change a life. If you have a problem with drugs, you could be the next one being sent to a prison term. The good news is you can turn your life around with treatment.
If you have a problem with alcohol or drug abuse or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available.
