UCF Bans Greek Activity After Issues with Alcohol
The University of Central Florida has decided to ban most fraternity and sorority activities after recent incidents involving alcohol and hazing problems. A statement released by the university said that recent events show that the school’s Greek communities need to change their culture when it comes to the use of alcohol and the acceptance of hazing. Hazing has been talked about in Florida ever since 2011 when a student from Florida A&M died after a horrific hazing ceremony in a bus.
Though fraternities and their hazing rituals can be extremely problematic, the fact is that alcohol is a key ingredient in this story. After all, under the influence of alcohol, people will do many things they normally wouldn’t, including go too far with hazing. Fraternities and sororities are notorious for allowing or even encouraging problem drinking behaviors. If you find yourself doing things while drunk that you regret later, chances are you might have a drinking problem. You should seek help now and turn your life around.
If you have a problem with alcohol or drug abuse or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center. At Seabrook, we customize our treatment plans to individual patient’s needs, so you know the help you’re getting is right for you or a loved one.
