The Situation’s Post Rehab Advice

The Situation’s Post Rehab Advice

Trying to teach is a very difficult task. People are unique and they respond to things much differently—but one factor that seems to go a long way with teaching is experience. People listen to and respond to someone with experience because they’ve been there and done that. This ‘been there, done that’ experience is especially relevant and important when trying to reach through to current drug and/or alcohol abusers and addicts—so it’s very important for those influential figures who DO overcome addiction to speak to current addicts to give them encouragement from their experience.

MTV’s Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino got a lot of attention early in 2012 for enrolling in a drug rehabilitation center—but now after his release he is able to share his experience with others.  Sorrentino recently revealed to MTV, “I’m not gonna lie…it’s not easy. But at the same time, where I’m at right now, I’m at a good place. But it took a little bit to get there. In the beginning? A lot of rainy days, so to speak. A lot of rainy days.”  He continued by explaining his detox experience: “Your first day is detox. It’s not a pleasurable experience at all. I’d wake up and just be extremely disappointed with myself. Like, I can’t believe I got here. How did I get here?…I’m not gonna lie, it feels like you’re not gonna recover. It feels like an impossible deed … [but] day-by-day it gets better.”

Sorrentino went to a drug rehabilitation facility in order to overcome his addiction to prescription pain killers and alcohol. It’s impressive that he was able to admit his addiction and go through treatment, but now it’s important that he not only stays clean and sober but he shares his experience with others. His insight could potentially help someone out who was in a similar situation or inspire someone to stop with their drug and/or alcohol abuse. It’s unfortunately common for people to fall into a drug or alcohol addiction to try and cope with their problems, but substance abuse is never the right way to go. It can be very difficult for a drug addict or an alcoholic and their family to accomplish a recovery on their own, so that’s where Seabrook can help.
