Program aimed at Helping Addicted Vets

Former US Marine who use to reach for beer bottles, marijuana and cocaine now are turning to nonprofit organizations offering a healthy adrenaline high as an alternative to drug and alcohol addictions. Every other Wednesday, in Colorado Springs, Vets put on a rock climbing harnesses and scales the tallest indoor rock wall in Colorado.

Rather than hosting group therapy sessions, groups are trying to help people addicted to drugs or alcohol by keeping them active — often through indoor rock climbing, mountain biking trips or backpacking and rafting excursions. Many of those participating in these programs are veterans.

When you fill a horrible addiction with a positive one, it’s easy to stay away from whatever your dark addiction may have been.

Treatment must be tailored to the individual patient’s needs in order to optimize outcomes—this often involves a combination of treatment, social supports, and other services. Seabrook, an internationally recognized drug rehab and alcoholism detox treatment center, offers these unique and individually structured services to get cocaine addicts on the road to recovery. Seabrook has treatment centers located in New Jersey (NJ) and Pennsylvania (PA), and an outpatient office in New York (NY). Contact Seabrook today with any questions concerning cocaine abuse and treatment programs.
