New Jersey Woman Sells Alcohol to Minors for $15

A 44-year-old woman from Liberty Township was recently arrested on charges of furnishing alcohol to minor and for resisting arrest, according to news reports. She bought the alcohol for the unnamed underage youths in exchange for $15. She was also carrying a brown crystallized substance and some orange pills, which police believe are forms of amphetamines. She is being held without possibility of bail.

This news story is just one more example of the problems New Jersey has with its alcohol enforcement. Though police try to crack down on underage drinking, they will never be completely successful when adults like this woman are willing to buy alcohol for minors. The substances she was carrying might mean that she is a drug addict, and people routinely make bad decisions under the influence of illicit drugs (or even legal drugs). Though some might think that doing drugs is a victimless crime, it truly does lead to all kinds of other ills for society, including damaged health, violence, and poor decisions that increase crimes like this one.

If you or someone you know has a problem with drugs or alcohol, now is the best time to get help. Thankfully there is a way out of the isolation and despair. Drinkers are often unable to cope with treatment on their own, or even with family members’ help, so it’s very important to find the right treatment center. At Seabrook, our treatment plans are customized to meet each individual patient’s needs, so you can rest assured that you’ll be getting the right remedy for yourself or for a loved one.
