New Jersey Designer Drugs Declining After Outlawing

Sources say that after banning bath salts and synthetic marijuana, the street presence of both drugs have dropped significantly. After the ban, the reports to New Jersey’s poison hotline of bath salts have dropped by 33 percent, and 66 for synthetic marijuana, according to the Attorney General’s office. Both drugs were originally designed to skirt legal gray areas in drug codes, and so were technically legal under New Jersey law. New Jersey has been one of the very first states to ban bath salts, which some say are linked to incidences of violent or unpredictable behavior.

This new drop in designer drugs after a crackdown shows that law enforcement can be very effective in combatting the spread of drugs. However, it’s good to keep in mind that whether the drugs are technically “legal” or illegal, using them without a doctor’s guidance is dangerous and potentially harmful. And whether it’s bath salts, meth, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, PCP, prescription pills, or any other drug, the best way to target its abuse is to seek treatment for bad habits and addictions.

If you have a problem with drug addiction or dependence, you should seek help now. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence.
