Garrett Reid’s Tox Screen Could Take Weeks

Law enforcement agencies say it might be quite some time before the results come back an Garrett Reid, who was found dead recently in a Lehigh University dorm room. Though drugs were suspected in his untimely death, it is not known which drugs were involved, whether it was alcohol, marijuana, meth, cocaine, synthetic marijuana or bath salts, prescription pills, or any of a number of other drugs. Reid was only 29. He had struggled with drug dependence for years, going in and out of rehab, recovery centers, and other sources of help, but finally succumbed to his illness.

Garrett Reid’s funeral was on August 7th. His father, Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid, said of Garrett “[his] road through life was not always an easy one. He faced tremendous personal challenges with bravery and spirit.” He continued, “Even though he lost the battle that has been ongoing for the last eight years, we will always remember him as a fighter who had a huge, loving heart.” Garrett’s story is another example of how drugs can ruin, and even end, a life prematurely.
