Garret Would’ve Wanted Me Here, Says Andy Reid

Less than 24 hours after his son’s funeral, Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid was on the field at practice coaching his team, and he says there was only one reason for that: his son Garrett Reid. Garrett was found dead in a Lehigh University dorm room recently, presumably having overdosed on some kind of drug. It’s not known what Garrett had been taking, whether it was marijuana, meth, cocaine, synthetic marijuana or bath salts, prescription pills, or any of a number of other drugs.

Garrett was in the middle of helping his father in the strength and conditioning program for the Eagles. Andy Reid said of his work, “I know coming back and coaching is the right thing to do, and I know my son wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. I’m a football coach. That’s what I do. My son wouldn’t want it any other way. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles.” The Philadelphia Eagles have decided to dedicate their 2012 to Garret Reid’s memory.
