Cops Bust Underage Drinking on Jersey Shore

A recent raid in Brielle, New Jersey, ended with several arrests as police and Alcoholic Beverage Control officials crack down on illicit drinking—especially underage consumption. A bartender was arrested when she provided drinks to a 31-year-old, who then passed the drinks to a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old.  In the very same day, investigators busted a 21-year-old for buying alcohol for an 18-year-old in Union Beach. In all, there have been more than 200 alcohol-related arrests on the Jersey Shore this summer.

It’s vitally important that alcohol laws are followed. Statistics have shown that the earlier a person gets started drinking, the higher risk they have for developing alcoholism or alcohol abuse. Many people who have troubles with alcohol addiction started drinking before the legal age, and people buying alcohol for underage drinkers are creating huge risks. Not to mention, disobeying liquor laws can land you in serious trouble—including large fines and even jail time.

If you think you have a problem with alcohol dependence or abuse or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating alcohol dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
