Meow Meow- What is it?

In a previous blog post, we talked about the dangers of synthetic drugs. In this post, we dig deeper into one synthetic drug in particular, Meow Meow.

Meow Meow is the common name for mephedrone, which is a synthetic psychoactive drug. Addicts take this drug to feel a sense of euphoria. It was created to make the user fully sense everything around them and increase their mood. However, it is very addictive and has numerous harmful side effects. It causes poor concentration, erratic behavior, hallucinations, and an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, which can be very dangerous. The biggest and most prevalent side effect of all is loss of memory.

Researchers who have studied Meow Meow have found that the drug has a massive impact on the brain. Through experiments with mice, they found that regular use can cause great memory loss and poor concentration. Users can forget things that have happened to them in the past or while on the drug.

Meow Meow grew in popularity in the UK and Australia, but it is slowly moving into the United States. Authorities are aware of this drug and are doing what they can to keep it from entering the country and off the streets.
