Prescription Drug Abuse Growing in PA
Members of the Pennsylvania medical community are concerned over the growing number of residents abusing prescription drugs. Doctors are urging legislators to take the lead to help safeguard and optimize the health of patients throughout the state. According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, more Pennsylvanians die from drug poisoning than any other type of injury. Michael R. Fraser, Executive Vice President of the Pennsylvania Medical Society states that part of the problem is that prescription drugs are getting into the wrong hands via many channels to include; family members who are misusing medications and prescribing physicians. He says that everyone including physicians need to play a role in fighting this crisis.
