$15,000 To Keep Drugs Away from Middle-Schoolers

Millburn-based organization Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey has recently received a generous gift: $15,000 to keep middle-schoolers off drugs, courtesy of the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. The executive director of Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, Angelo Valente, said, “We are extremely grateful for the Horizon Foundation’s continuous support.” Using the money, the organization will develop a program that will help make the difficult task of communication between teens and parents a little easier. They plan to call their initiative the “Fifth Grade Parent Alert.”

New Jersey has had increasing problems with drug use and abuse among younger and younger students. It’s gotten to the point that the state does drug-testing on middle school students now. And though there have been no findings of widespread drug problems in the middle schools themselves, it’s important to make sure the situation stays that way—and these two organizations are doing just that. Through their efforts, marjiuana, meth, cocaine, PCP, bath salts, heroin, or prescription painkillers are being kept away from vulnerable youths.

If you or someone you know has a problem with drug addiction or dependence, you should seek help now before more drugs make their way into the hands of young people. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center. At Seabrook, we customize our treatment plans to individual patient’s needs, so you know the help you’re getting is right for you or a loved one. Seabrook has rehabilitation centers in New Jersey (NJ), Pennsylvania (PA), and an outpatient center in New York (NY). Contact Seabrook today for any questions about drugs, addiction, and treatment.
