Woman Sues for Falling, Because of Love or Booze
A drunken incident in a Phillipsburg, New Jersey bar is the basis for a lawsuit by a woman who fell to the ground and injured herself. According to reports, a woman from Mansfield Township was trying to take away a drunk man’s keys (so he wouldn’t drive home in an intoxicated state) when he pulled her in such a way that she lost her balance and fell. She alleges that the bar had been serving drinks to the man even after it became clear that he was “extremely intoxicated,” which is against New Jersey law.
Though bars and bartenders themselves have a responsibility to limit their patron’s alcohol consumption, often there’s only so much they can do. Especially if someone has a life-long or long-term pattern of alcohol abuse or alcoholism, they can harm themselves or others in very serious ways. The good news is that even if someone’s ruined their life with alcohol, there’s still hope. A good program of treatment can turn a life around.
If you have a problem with alcohol or drug abuse or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
