Recovery – There’s an App for That
There is a social networking site for everything you can imagine. These sites are often used to post about your personal life and the adventures you embark on. But is there a safe sober site for those in recovery? Not yet, but there will be before you know it.
Jack Kelly is a former Boston City Council candidate, recovering addict and creator of soon-to-be social network specifically for recovering addicts, iRecover. The site will be a social networking space for those in recovery to seek out friends and companions in their time of need. It will be a safe place for them to post their struggles or triumphs and find comfort in one another.
Kelly created the idea for iRecover while on a trip to New Orleans with his friends. While they wanted to go out drinking, he stayed back and went online to look for someone to spend a sober night with. However, this proved to be difficult, and thus iRecover was invented.
The App will be available on iPhones and Androids. It is still in beta testing but will be on the market in the near future.
