Man Admits to Drugs in Death of New Jersey Cop

A New Jersey man has recently admitted to being under the influence of drugs when he caused a crash that killed a police officer, sources say. It happened in Morris County, where prosecutors say that the defendant faces up to a 20-year prison term for his charge of manslaughter. His $500,000 bail was also revoked when he was taken into custody.

The crash itself happened in October of 2011, on Route 80 in Roxbury. The defendant allegedly lost control of his car while under the influence of heroin and other drugs. He crossed the median, before hitting the police car of a 38-year-old officer named Joseph Wargo. This is just one more tragic story that proves that drugs are killers—this is true whether the drug in question is heroin (as in this story), cocaine, marijuana, PCP, meth, prescription pills, or even alcohol. No drug is completely safe. If you have a problem with any kind of drug, you should seek treatment before you end up causing casualties.

If you have a problem with alcohol or drug abuse or know someone who does, you should seek help now for yourself or your loved one. Thankfully, there is good help available. Detoxification and behavioral therapy have proven to be effective in treating drug dependence. Addicts are often unable to complete treatment on their own or with family members, so it’s very important to seek the right treatment center.
