Czech Republic Bans Liquor After Deaths and Injuries
The Czech Republic has enacted temporary emergency measures banning the sale of hard alcohol at kiosks after a series of serious injuries and fatalities struck the country, sources reported. Apparently, use of hard alcohol has risen significantly after the economic downturn has hit the Central European nation in a bad way. At least 18 deaths have happened from the sale of bootleg liquor disguised as legitimate hard alcohol. There are few methods in place to protect consumers from the fraudulent alcohol in the Czech Republic. There are few liquor laws at all, in fact, and in fact hard alcohol is routinely sold at fast food restaurants.
Sometimes it seems that people forget how dangerous alcohol can be. Discounting the obvious danger of alcoholism, even moderate consumption can have hazardous consequences. As this story shows, and as the 18 tragic deaths will attest, alcohol is not something to mess around with. However, the best treatment for overuse or abuse of alcohol is the same it’s always been: a good treatment program that can care for individuals’ needs and adapt to their situations.
If you think you have a problem with alcohol dependence or abuse, you should seek help now before you put yourself or a loved one at risk. Thankfully, there is good help available.
